How many Rayquaza are there in the Pokémon world (lore-wise)?
Always assumed legendaries like Rayquaza are one-of-a-kind in the lore, but then you can technically have multiples via trading/events. How many Rayquaza are there supposed to exist canonically versus what the games actually let you do?

Lore-wise, the games never give an exact population count for Rayquaza. It’s a Legendary Pokémon, but multiple Rayquaza can exist across Pokémon media, so it isn’t necessarily unique.

Lore-wise, Pokémon has not given a confirmed number of Rayquaza. Rayquaza is generally portrayed as a legendary Pokémon with a unique role as the guardian of the ozone layer, and the games don’t establish a specific population. So the safest answer is at least one, but the exact number is unknown.

Rayquaza is generally portrayed as a rare Legendary Pokémon rather than a species commonly found in large numbers. The games and other Pokémon media don't establish a definitive total population, so the exact number is unknown.

Lore-wise, probably only one Rayquaza. It’s generally portrayed as a unique Legendary Pokémon—the guardian of the ozone layer and a being that has existed since ancient times. Unlike species such as Pikachu or Charizard, canon doesn’t establish a population of Rayquaza.
