Its Water/Ground typing gives it just one weakness—4× damage from Grass—and excellent bulk and coverage. Sceptile and Blaziken have strengths too, but Swampert is definitely more than nostalgia.

Swampert is arguably the best Hoenn starter because of its Water/Ground typing, strong stats, and single weakness to Grass. Its Mega Evolution adds even more offensive power and bulk.
