Starmie — still a solid Water/Psychic pick this many gens later?

Question

Starmie used to be an absolute menace back in Gen 1 with its typing and speed. Curious if it's held up at all competitively or if it's mostly a nostalgia pick against the newer Water types now.

Vicky · Answer

Starmie remains useful for its 115 Speed, solid Special Attack, Water/Psychic typing, coverage, and Rapid Spin utility. Its viability varies by generation and format, though.

kevin · Answer

Pokémon Starmie is still a useful Water/Psychic option in some formats, mainly because of its high Speed, strong Special Attack, and versatile movepool. Its Natural Cure ability can also remove status conditions when it switches out.

govind · Answer

Yes. Starmie remains a useful Water/Psychic Pokémon thanks to its 115 Speed, 100 Special Attack, wide movepool, Natural Cure, and access to Recover and Rapid Spin.

Soren · Answer

Starmie can still be useful because of its Speed, Special Attack, and Water/Psychic typing. Its effectiveness depends on the specific generation, available moves, abilities, and the rest of your team.

William · Answer

Honestly, yes. With 100/80/100 stats and access to Recover, Starmie remains a staple in many formats. It’s not just a blanket pick though; it really depends on the meta. If you’re running a team that needs a reliable special wall with good bulk, it’s perfect. But if you’re looking for pure offensive pressure, you might be better off with something like Suicune or even newer options. It’s all about synergy.

Aney · Answer

Starmie remains a versatile Water/Psychic Pokémon, offering strong speed and special attacks. Its typing and movepool have helped it stay useful across multiple Pokémon generations.
