Rattata — is there any reason to use it over literally anything else?
Rattata is the most "catch it because it's there" Pokémon in the entire franchise. Curious if Guts or Hustle give Rattata any real niche or if it's purely a first-five-minutes catch for everyone.

Honestly, not really. It's fine very early on, but you'll swap it out pretty quickly.

Honestly, not really, you'll outgrow it fast. I only used it early on and swapped it out as soon as I found something better.

Honestly, not really. Rattata is generally outclassed by faster, higher-stat rodents like Raticate or even just Pawniard if you need a weak Normal-type. Its only niche is specific speed tiers where it can outpace threats, but that window is tiny. If you love the aesthetic, sure, use it for fun. But competitively, it’s a hard pass in almost every format.

Honestly, Rattata is mainly useful in the early game. It evolves into Raticate at level 20 and can hit surprisingly hard with moves like Hyper Fang. In some generations, abilities like Guts or Hustle can make it more threatening. However, its limited bulk and average long-term stats usually make it replaceable. Use it for early-game damage or a fun challenge run.
