Gyarados — Mega or standard, which do you actually run?
Gyarados has been a staple since Gen 1 but curious if people still prefer running it as a standard Water/Flying sweeper or if Mega Gyarados' Dark typing is just objectively better now.

I usually stick with standard Gyarados. It’s more flexible and easier to fit into a team, while Mega Gyarados is great when I specifically want the extra power and Dark typing.

It depends on the game and format. Standard Gyarados is generally more flexible because it can use an item and has Intimidate before Mega Evolution. Mega Gyarados trades some of that utility for higher overall stats and a Dark typing, making it more offensively oriented. If Mega Evolution is available, the choice comes down to whether you want standard Gyarados's utility or Mega Gyarados's offensive power.

Mega Gyarados and standard Gyarados serve different purposes depending on the game and ruleset. Mega Gyarados offers different stats and typing, while regular Gyarados can provide useful abilities and flexibility. The choice usually depends on team composition and available mechanics.

It depends on the battle format. Mega Gyarados is generally chosen when you want stronger bulk, Attack, and Dark typing, while standard Gyarados offers Intimidate, useful utility, and Water/Flying typing. If Mega Evolution is available, choose based on your team’s role and needs.
