Aggron: how good is Mega Aggron’s defense?

Question

Aggron loses its Rock typing when it Mega Evolves, becoming pure Steel with Filter. That makes Aggron a really interesting wall. Has anyone run it, and is it better than the standard Steel/Rock version?

William · Answer

Mega Aggron’s bulk is exceptional. Its massive HP and high Defense stat make it a physical wall that can tank hits from most attackers. However, its low Special Defense is a significant weakness, leaving it vulnerable to special moves. It excels as a physical switch-in but requires careful support to handle special threats effectively in competitive play.

Ankit · Answer

Mega Aggron has an incredible base Defense of 230, making it one of the strongest physical walls in Pokémon. Its Filter ability also reduces damage from super-effective attacks. However, its low Speed and modest Special Defense mean powerful special attackers can still threaten it.

Aney · Answer

Mega Aggron has outstanding physical defense and can absorb many powerful attacks. Its pure Steel typing helps defensively, although special attackers and Ground-type moves can still threaten it significantly.
